No BBL, no polls for MILF

DAGUPAN CITY—A representative of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) said his group has not endorsed any candidate for the May 9 elections, partly due to lingering bad blood over the derailed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).

But Aldullah Camlian, a member of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC), said the MILF would not stop its members from taking part in the elections.

BTC is a 15-member collective from the government and the MILF whose principal task is to transform “the agreements  of parties, the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro, and its annexes as well as other agreements of the parties” into laws, according to a government website.

Camlian spoke on Tuesday at a forum organized to determine the plans of Pangasinan’s congressional candidates regarding the Bangsamoro peace process.

He said a political party organized by the MILF is not participating in the May 9 elections because of the absence of the BBL. Gabriel Cardinoza, Inquirer Northern Luzon
