BIR: Duterte has no tax liability on assets given by Quiboloy

Davao City Mayor and presidential aspirant Rodrigo Duterte has no tax liability on the assets given to him by Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Commissioner Kim Henares said Thursday.

Duterte, in an interview on Quiboloy鈥檚 late-night show said he had three properties at Woodridge Park, Ma-a, in Davao City given to him by Quiboloy.

Properties in Maa and Matina were indicated in Duterte鈥檚 2014 Statement of Assets Liabilities and Networth (SALN).

He said Quiboloy also gave him a Nissan Safari and a Ford Expedition.

Duterte added the evangelist also offered to pay for his expenses in the United States for neurosurgeon Dr. Martin Cooper for the treatment of his 鈥渟weaty hands.鈥

Henares said the properties and vehicles given to Duterte should be subjected to donors鈥 tax to which Quiboloy should have paid.

鈥淲ala naman siyang (Duterte) liability鈥ng may liability ay iyong nagbigay,鈥 Henares said.

(He has no liability. The one who has liability is the giver.)

鈥淜ung sino man iyong nagbigay, mayroon silang dapat bayaran na donor鈥檚 tax,鈥 Henares said.

(Whoever is the giver should pay donor鈥檚 tax.) TVJ
