Vice President Jejomar Binay late Monday said he would respect the democratic institutions of the country and wait for the count to be finished, after failing to lead in the presidential elections according to the latest unofficial count.
In a statement on Monday night, Binay said the public should respect the results of the elections after the process was completed.
鈥淚 have repeatedly called for respecting institutions and the democratic process. Once the process is completed, we should always respect the outcome,鈥 Binay said.
鈥淲e should all move towards healing and unity for our divided land,鈥 he added.
Binay made the statement after falling at fourth place in the latest unofficial count, surpassed by unofficial count frontrunner Davao city mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

Earlier, Binay鈥檚 spokesperson Atty. Rico Quicho said it is still 鈥渕athematically possible鈥 for the vice president to win the elections.

Binay camp鈥檚 communications director Joey Salgado also claimed that voters who support Vice President Binay were disenfranchised in Binay鈥檚 bailiwicks by the ruling Liberal Party.
