The vice presidential race has reached fever pitch late Monday.

Camarines Sur Representative Leni Robredo, Liberal Party’s bet, and Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos have taken pole positions for the second-highest seat with the feisty Bicolana closing in on the hard-nosed Ilocano’s lead.

As of 10:40 pm Monday, Marcos has the lead with 11,423,632 votes which is 36.11 percent of the 34,164,742 tallied votes.

Robredo, meanwhile, is at second with 10,804,061 votes or 34.15 percent.

There are a total of 55,735,757 registered voters this election season.

The difference between the two is 619,571 votes.

Marcos’ biggest lead reached around one million votes earlier Monday night.

Alan Peter Cayetano, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s partner, is at far third with 4,451,847 votes.
