Businesswoman shot while visiting family resto in South Cotabato

KORONADAL CITY, Philippines—A still unidentified suspect shot and seriously wounded a businesswoman based here while the victim was visiting a family-owned restaurant in nearby Tantangan town in South Cotabato on Thursday.

The incident occurred in Barangay (village) New Iloilo shortly before 12 p.m., the police said.

Jenna Co, 45, owner of Jennah Hardware and Auto Supply and a resident of Morrow St., sustained a gunshot wound in the neck from a . 45 cal. pistol.

She was rushed by restaurant workers to a hospital.

Senior Inspector Johnrick Medel, Tantangan police chief, said initial investigation showed that Co had just arrived at the family-owned restaurant to check on an ongoing construction when she was attacked.

She was disembarking from her vehicle when one of two suspects on board a passing motorbike opened fire on her, Medel said.
