More than 100 drug offenders to surrender in Manila — police

Billions of pesos worth of shabu have been seized by policemen year in and year out. MORE THAN a hundred drug offenders are expected to surrender Tuesday at the Manila Police District, according to Radyo Inquirer 990AM.

The report cited as its source Chief Inspector John Guiagi, commander of the Plaza Miranda Police Community Precinct.

The police official reportedly said he will first conduct background checks on the 130 individuals who are expected to surrender.

Guiagi, whose precinct covers 89 barangays, added that those who will surrender must pledge never to take part in any drug-related activity again.

The surrender of these individuals will help the police trace the source of drugs in Manila, Guiagi said.

The radio report said about 167 individuals connected to drug activity in Manila surrendered to the city police yesterday.

Hundreds of drug users and pushers have been surrendering to police and government officials in different parts of the country since President Rodrigo Duterte was sworn into office.

Duterte has been known for his strong stance against drugs and criminality.

Last week 170 drug pushers and users surrendered in Mindanao.
