Confiscated cargo vessel sinks in Manila Bay

/ 02:43 PM July 17, 2016

A cargo vessel, which was confiscated in 2009 by the Bureau of Customs over gun smuggling, sank into Manila Bay after taking water early Sunday.

PCG spokesperson Commander Armand Balilo said MV Captain Ufuk sank after water seeped through a hole on the ship.

He said PCG men even tried to prevent the vessel from sinking by taking some of the water off the ship but it was too late.

Balilo said there was no risk of an oil leak because the vessel had no fuel.
