QC cops kill ‘No. 34’ on narc list in shootout

MANILA — Two suspected drug pushers were killed separately in alleged shootouts with anti-drug policemen in Quezon City on Tuesday night.

One of the fatalities identified only as “Machete” and described as between 30 and 35 years old was number 34 on the list of wanted drug suspects in Batasan Hills, based on records of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 2.

According to the police, Machete” sold “shabu” or methamphetamine hydrochloride to an undercover policeman, PO2 Amiruodin Ibrahim, from the police station’s anti-illegal drugs unit around 7 p.m. Tuesday in Batasan Hills.

During the exchange, however, the suspect noticed the presence of policemen in the area, prompting him to fire at them, the police said.

The eight policemen involved in the operation fired back, killing Machete, who yielded a .45-caliber pistol and 13 sachets of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride).

Meanwhile, a still unidentified suspected drug pusher was also killed after he shot it out with policemen on Victory Street in Barangay Tatalon. He was described as between 25 and 35 years old and around 5’6″ tall.

Operatives from Station 11 in Galas said in their report that they were on patrol in the area when they saw the suspect with a gun tucked in the waistband of his pants.

The policemen said they asked him to surrender but he ran away, leading to a chase and a firefight. Recovered from him were a cal. .45-caliber pistol and six sachets of shabu.

Senior Supt. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, QCPD chief, said that the deaths of the suspected drug pushers were part of their efforts to go after high and low level targets.  SFM/rga
