Bato: Espinosa son sent surrender feelers
After Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. cried on national television to beg his son Kerwin to surrender, Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald “Bato” de la Rosa on Thursday confirmed that the younger Espinosa would be flying back to the country and turning himself in to the authorities.
Although De la Rosa did not give a specific time and date, he said Kerwin, 36, sent surrender feelers to his family on Wednesday night.
In an interview after visiting the Manila Police District on Thursday, the police chief said: “‘Yung father, tinawagan daw siya ng kanyang kapatid na tumawag si Kerwin na uuwi na para mag-surrender.”
Inquirer earlier reported that the younger Espinosa quietly left Manila on June 21 for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, via Cebu Pacific Air.
Dela Rosa said he himself would pick up Kerwin at the airport once he arrives in Manila.
From the airport, Kerwin will be brought to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group to undergo questioning and submit his judicial affidavit./rga
