DAVAO CITY鈥擯resident Rodrigo Duterte on Friday dared critics threatening to impeach him to go ahead, reiterating that聽he had no illusions about the presidency.
鈥溾榊ang mga impeachment- impeachment diyan (those who threaten me with impeachment), go ahead,鈥 he said, 鈥淲ala akong problema, matanda na ako (I don鈥檛 have any problem, I鈥檓 already old) and besides, it leaves a bad taste in the mouth,鈥 he said.
Duterte said it was difficult to be President that 鈥淚f I鈥檒l be made to repeat it, I no longer want it.鈥
鈥淢aybe, I鈥檒l be the first President to commit suicide,鈥 he said in jest before a nationwide gathering of policewomen in Davao City.
鈥淜asi, akala n鈥檡o palasyo (Because you think it鈥檚 a Palace), with security na palaging sumusunod sa iyo (that keeps following you),鈥 Duterte said in an over an hour鈥檚 talk with the police, where he kept lashing at the United States and human rights institutions for interfering in his war against drugs, as he gloated over the support of the semi- authoritarian states such as Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia.
鈥淔rom those countries who separated from their colonizers, they鈥檝e been doing well,鈥 he said, 鈥淟aos, Vietnam and Cambodia, kakampi natin sila (they鈥檙e with us), pati na ang (including the) Chinese,鈥 he said, 鈥淭hey are supporting our war against drugs.鈥
