It all began when worker Tristan Loescher, a worker from the fishing charter, reeled the crustacean to the boat.

“He swam out, expecting to find a gray snapper, and found a male Carribean spiny lobster instead,” Matthew Jones, Loescher’s co-worker, told T. “It was one of the biggest lobsters we’ve ever seen.”

At first, the group considered enclosing the animal inside an aquarium. However, the group decided to liberate the lobster into the sea. “It’s not typically caught that way so we decided to let it go,” Jones added.  The fishermen earned kudos from Facebook users for releasing the crustacean back into its natural habitat.

Though the lobster was tremendously huge, it was not enough to beat the world record holder. In 1997, several fishermen caught a lobster that weighed 44 pounds (19.9 kilos) in Nova Scotia, Canada.  Gianna Francesca Catolico
