/ 07:38 AM October 26, 2011

THE Mandaue City government will address the flooding problem on C.P. Batiller Street, barangay Umapad, and there is already a program of works and estimate for (POWE) the project.

City Administrator lawyer James Abadia told Cebu Daily ºÚÁÏÉç that the City Engineer’s Office and the City Planning Office are working together to address this problem.

Abadia’s reaction came after a contributed photo from a concerned citizen and barangay Umapad resident came out of the paper’s Siloy Is Watching section yesterday.

There were culverts on the roadside but these were not used.

Umapad barangay captain Nelson Rubio agreed with Abadia that the flooding in the area was caused by construction of bodegas and other establishments blocking the waterways through UN Avenue.

However, he said the City Council would review the POWE because the budget might not be enough for the whole project.

Abadia said the drainage of the area was covered with filling materials because of a construction of a bodega nearby.

He admitted the area needs immediate attention.  /Reporter Jucell Marie P. Cuyos with a report from Correspondent Norman V. Mendoza
