Duterte fine, but needs rest after migraine attack—Palace

There is nothing serious about the health of President Rodrigo Duterte a day after he skipped a town hall session in Davao City on Friday due to migraine, a Palace official assured the public.

“He is fine,” Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella said in a text message on Saturday when asked about the President’s health condition.

Abella said Duterte only experienced migraine.

In a separate text message, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said “the long hours and endless trip must be taking its toll on the President.”

“Like any human being, the President needs to take a rest,” Andanar said.

During the regional convention of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) in Manila, the President told a group of lawyers that he has “medical issues.”

But Andanar reacted to Duterte’s statement, saying the President was “fit and healthy” to perform his job as the country’s chief executive.

Duterte just returned home early Friday from his visit to Thailand and Malaysia this week.

The President has earlier visited the countries of Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia, Brunei, Japan and China.
