Did you know: National Microinsurance Month

January was declared National Microinsurance Month by virtue of Proclamation No. 1212 signed on Jan. 10, 2007, by then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

According to the proclamation, January connotes a fresh start, especially for those in the disadvantaged sectors of Philippine society who may benefit most from microinsurance.

The Insurance Commission and the Department of Finance are the government agencies tasked to lead the observance. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
