SILANG, Cavite-A bonfire for burning trash has spread causing a grass fire in this town, with black smoke visible from the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA), where President Rodrigo Duterte was attending the police cadets鈥� graduation on Friday.
Silang police chief Chief Inspector Lory Tarrazona said the fire started around 12:15 p.m. in Barangay (village) Hukay, a five minute drive from the PNPA.
鈥淪omeone started a bonfire to burn trash that caused the grass fire,鈥� he said. He said the fire covered less than a hundred square meters.
Tarrazona said firefighters were already in the area. There were no houses nearby and Tarrazona said no one was hurt./rga
