NBI nabs 2 for duping aspirants for gov鈥檛 posts
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested two persons for allegedly deceiving applicants for government positions and promising they will facilitate an appointment by President Rodrigo Duterte in exchange for large sums.
NBI spokesman Ferdinand Lavin identified the suspects as Aira Enriquez and Robert Tesorero.
The two were arrested in an entrapment operation conducted by the NBI-Anti Fraud Division in Manila on Tuesday.
On the other hand, Lavin said that a third suspect, identified as Alma Carreon, remains at large.
A complaint for Usurpation of Authority or Official Functions and Estafa under Article 177 and Article 315 par 2(a) of the Revised Penal Code, respectively has been filed against the three before the Department of Justice (DOJ).
The operation against the suspects stemmed from the complaint of a person who has pending application as regional director of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
During the complainant’s stay in Davao City last February, the suspects met and interviewed the victim, along with other persons, for a government post.
Carreon who was introduced as the little president of Malacañang interviewed the victims who were later asked to shell out P20,000 to defray the expenses of Enriquez.
Enriquez later emailed the complainant informing him that the victim is set for interview by President Rodrigo Duterte.
However, the complainant became suspicious when Enriquez asked for P10,000 more.
