Three magnitude 4 earthquakes struck the sea off Davao Oriental Tuesday morning, with the peak at magnitude 4.8, state seismologists reported.
In three separate advisories on its social media pages, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) located the epicenter of the quakes 194 kilometers southeast of the town of Governor Generoso. The tremors were tectonic in origin.
The first quake was recorded at magnitude 4.4 at 10:44 a.m., followed by a magnitude 4.8 at 10:50 a.m., and a magnitude 4.5 at 11:03 a.m.

No damages and aftershocks were expected, Phivolcs said.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) tipped the quake at magnitude 5.1 at 10:50 a.m., and located it 145 kilometers east southeast of Pondaguitan, Davao Oriental. It had a depth of 70.3 kilometers, USGS said.
On Monday evening, a magnitude 5.7 quake also struck Governor Generoso.
The earthquake swarm off Davao Oriental followed a similar succession of temblors that jolted Batangas over the weekend.
Some of the Batangas quakes were also felt in Metro Manila and nearby provinces. CBB/rga
