Mechanic killed in Ecija drug bust

GAPAN CITY –– A 33-year-old engine mechanic on Tuesday night was killed after he allegedly engaged law enforcers in a shootout during a drug bust, according to a belated police report.

Joel Pabustan attacked policemen at 7 p.m. in Barangay (village) San Roque here, said Supt. Peter Madria, city police chief.

The suspect died instantly. Investigators recovered Pabustan’s cal. 45 pistol and seven sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride). JE/rga
