6 dead as van collides with military truck in Misamis Oriental

ILIGAN CITY, Lanao del Norte—Six persons were killed when an Iligan-bound van collided with a military truck in Manticao, Misamis Oriental on Monday evening, police said.

The military truck was among a convoy of military vehicles – including Armored Personnel Carriers – heading for Cagayan de Oro City.

Initial report said five van passengers were killed immediately after the mishap, which took place between 9 to 10 p.m., while another died after being rushed to a hospital in Manticao.

The wounded victims—whose number was not immediately available—were rushed to various hospitals here and in Cagayan de Oro.

The military has not issued any statement yet on the incident.
