Napolcom dismisses HPG officer accused in motorcyclist slay

The National Police Commission dismissed from service SPO2 Jonjie Manong-og who was involved in the death of a motorcyclist last year.

The police official was dismissed for 鈥済rave misconduct (2 counts), grave irregularity in the performance of duty, oppression and conduct unbecoming of a police officer.鈥

Manong-og and PO3 Jeremiah de Villa of the PNP鈥檚 Highway Patrol Group faced murder charges on the killing of John Dela Riarte who resisted arrest following a road accident in Makati City in August last year.

But the case on De Villa was dismissed by Napolcom on the account of his death. He committed suicide a few weeks after the incident at Camp Crame while under custody.

鈥淩espondent PO2 Jonjie Manong-og, however, is hereby held accountable for grave misconduct and conduct unbecoming of a police officer鈥 Consequently, having been found culpable of two administrative charges, the penalty to be imposed should be that corresponding to the most serious charge while the other shall be treated as an aggravating circumstance,鈥 the decision issued by Nalcom dated Sept. 28 said. /je
