Miriam College halts classes, work amid bomb threat

A bomb threat in Miriam College in Quezon City turned out to be negative, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Supt. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar disclosed on Wednesday.
Eleazar said members of the city police’s Explosive Ordinance Division (EOD) conducted a thorough “paneling” of the campus and yielded negative results.
“EOD paneling ended at 8 a.m. No IED found,” he said.
According to Eleazar, Miriam College sought their assistance on Tuesday night after receiving a bomb threat through a text message.
Article continues after this advertisementEleazar, however, described as “regular” the bomb threat received by the school, as it turned out negative even as police still have no information where the threat came from.
Article continues after this advertisementThe bomb threat has prompted Miriam College to suspend classes and work on Wednesday.
Even if the preliminary inspection made by the school’s security found nothing suspicious, Miriam College’s management “deems it necessary to suspend classes and work in all units” to allow experts to conduct complete assessment of the school property along Katipunan Avenue.
“Police authorities will undertake a more thorough inspection of the campus to ensure everyone’s safety,” the management said in a statement posted on its Facebook page Tuesday night.
Miriam College said it had received the bomb threat through a text message on Tuesday night but upon inspection of the campus, the school’s security staff found nothing questionable. /kga
