NCRPO to impose brief 鈥榣ockdown鈥� of NLEX for world leaders鈥� arrival

A “temporary lockdown” would be enforced on the southbound lane of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) from Clark in Pampanga to Metro Manila to give way to world leaders who will attend the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Summit this November, the police said Thursday.
Twenty one world leaders, attending the Asean summit, will arrive at the Clark International Airport in Pampanga and will be traveling to Metro Manila going to their respective hotels. Their arrivals will start on November 10 to 12.
“They will travel to NLEX, from Clark to Manila so there will be a temporary lockdown when they travel,” National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director Oscar Albayalde said in a Palace briefing.
“The NLEX will be temporarily closed and after a few minutes when they get past NLEX, it will be opened right away,” Albayalde added.
Albayalde said temporary lockdown would also be done along NLEX when the leaders would travel to Clark for their departure after the Asean summit on November 14.
The Philippines will host the 31st Asean Summit and Related Summits in Manila.
World leaders, including United States President Donald Trump, Canadian Prime Minister Justine Trudeau, and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, will attend the summit. United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is also expected to arrive. /jpv
