Cagayan vice mayor sacked
TUGUEGARAO CITY—The vice mayor of Baggao town in Cagayan province had been dismissed from service for falsifying her daily time records when she was an administrative assistant of the local government. Vice Mayor Joan Cabildo Dunuan relinquished her post on Oct. 30, when the Department of the Interior and Local Government enforced the order from the Civil Service Commission (CSC). The CSC ruled that Dunuan was guilty of serious dishonesty. Councilor Johnny Bacud replaced her. But Dunuan said she would fight the CSC order in court, arguing that the complaint was politically motivated. She had been at odds with Mayor Leonardo Pattung over local policies and projects, it was learned. —VILLAMOR VISAYA JR.
