Indian mother, daughter leap out of moving train to escape alleged rapists

A terrified mother and daughter jumped off a moving train in India to flee from a group of men trying to harm the young girl.

According to the Hindustan Times, the unidentified pair was constantly harassed by around 10 to 15 men while aboard the Howrah-Jodhpur Express.

The 40-year-old concerned mother reported the unwanted advances to the constables on board but to no avail, the men kept on going.

The attackers became more aggressive came nightfall, as five men allegedly followed the 15-year-old girl to the bathroom.

Upon hearing her daughter’s frightened screams, she rushed to the scene and tried to fend off her attackers.

Outnumbered, the woman figured their only way out to safety was through exiting the train while in motion.

“In the struggle, my daughter’s clothes were torn,” the woman was quoted as saying in the report. “We had to jump off as we had no choice.”

Both lost consciousness upon impact of the landing, the report said.

Luckily, the two woke up around two hours later and managed to seek medical attention at the nearby Chandari Railway Station.

Meanwhile, North Central Railway, which holds control over the Howrah-Jodhpur Express, claimed that the area where the harassment took place was out of their jurisdiction.

“The incident took place near Howrah, which is not under our jurisdiction,” said North Central Railway’s chief PRO, Gaurav Bansal, told the news outlet.

“When she reported the matter at Rasoolabad near Chandari station, the RPF constables provided her all the assistance and got them admitted to the hospital,”he said.  Khristian Ibarrola /ra?)000
