11-year-old girl found dead in Valenzuela
An 11-year-old girl believed to be a victim of rape was found dead, with her throat slit, in her house in Valenzuela City on Thursday.
The girl’s naked body was discovered lying in a pool of blood in her bedroom in their house in Makipot Road, Libis Bukid, Barangay Malinta, at around noon by her 9-year-old brother, said case investigator PO3 Robin Santos.
That evening, police arrested the girl’s uncle, Ricky Castillano, 47, who admitted killing his niece after getting furious that she wouldn’t wake up, Santos said.
Castillano, however, denied raping the girl, saying he only pulled down her undergarments after she wouldn’t rise from bed.
After slitting his niece’s throat with a kitchen knife, the suspect fled to Danding Building along CJ Santos Street, Barangay Maysan, where he works as a maintenance worker.
The girl’s father, Ireneo Oliveros, an Uber driver, told police he and his estranged wife had entrusted their four children to the Castillanos when they split seven years ago.—KRIXIA SUBINGSUBING
