San Juan police have arrested the leader of a notorious robbery and motorcycle riding-in-tandem group after he was spotted at Barangay Santolan, Pasig City.
In a spot report聽on Thursday, the police said Marcelo O帽ate, Jr, 42, leader of the O帽ate聽Robbery/Motorcycle Riding in Tandem Criminal Group, was arrested along E. Rodriguez聽Avenue at聽5:00 p.m.聽on Wednesday, January 17.
According to the San Juan Police Station, personnel led by SPO4 Alfredo Gadia proceeded to聽arrest O帽ate following a tip from a concerned citizen.
O帽ate, who was facing an arrest for robbery, was involved in a hold-up incident at Barangay聽Perfecto, San Juan City last January 11. During the incident, O帽ate also shot his victim, who聽was then confined in a hospital, the police said.
The suspect is now temporarily detained at San Juan City Police Station custodial cell while聽waiting for the issuance of commitment order from the trial court, according to the spot report.
The report said the entire Eastern Police District was tasked to hunt down most wanted聽criminals and conduct continuous operations as ordered by Philippine National聽Police (PNP) chief Ronald 鈥淏ato鈥� dela Rosa and National Capital Region Police Office聽(NCRPO) chief Oscar Albayalde. /je
