Senator JV Ejercito on Tuesday聽joked about not supporting the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) after at least two resource persons in the ongoing Senate hearing mistakenly took him as his half-brother, former Senator Jinggoy Estrada.
While recognizing the presence of senators during a joint hearing on BBL, Dr. Susana Anayatin, a member of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission, addressed Ejercito as 鈥淪enator Jinggoy.鈥
鈥淪enator (Juan Miguel) Zubiri, (Sherwin) Gatchalian, (Sonny) Angara, Senator Risa (Hotiveros), Senator Jinggoy鈥︹ Anayatin said but she quickly apologized and corrected herself.
鈥淪orry鈥 Senator Ejercito鈥 This is my first time,鈥 she said.
鈥淚 object. I think we have to end this hearing,鈥 a wide-smiling Ejercito said in jest.
Zubiri, who was presiding over the hearing, came to Anayatin鈥檚 rescue, saying it was just a slip of the tongue.
But just minutes after, the hearing room exploded into laughter as another resource person again mistakenly addressed Ejercito as Senator Jinggoy.
鈥淪alamat po Sir Jinggoy, Senator Jinggoy鈥︹ said the resource person.
鈥淎gain, I object. I will not support this鈥 how will I support this?鈥 Ejercito again said in jest.
鈥淚鈥檓 very, very sorry,鈥 the resource person said.
鈥淵ou repeated it twice,鈥 Ejercito said.
Ejercito and Estrada are sons of former President and now Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada from different women. /jpv
