Drug seller nabbed near Army HQ in Maguindanao

CAMP SIONGCO, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao—Joint Army and anti-narcotics operatives arrested an alleged big time drug peddler, who had been operating near the headquarters of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division here, the military said Saturday.

Two anti-narcotics agents posed as buyers of methamphetamine hydrochloride, more known as “shabu,” and met with a certain Datu Daffi Sinsuat in Barangay Lower Capiton to purchase P200,000 worth of the illegal drug on Friday.

Barangay Lower Capiton is about 800 meters from the 6th ID headquarters.

As soon as Sinsuat received the marked money, operatives of the 19th Infantry Battalion and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-ARMM) arrested the surprised suspected drug peddler.

Sinsuat is believed to be a peddler of prohibited drugs not only in this town but also in other areas of Maguindanao.

Also recovered from him were two caliber-45 pistols, a 9-millimeter, a cal. 22 rifle, assorted ammunition, and three packs of suspected shabu weighing 6.4 grams.

The suspect was now under PDEA custody and charges were being prepared against him in connection with anti-drugs and firearms laws.

Major General Arnel De la Vega, commander of the 6th Infantry Division, lauded the operating troops and vowed to provide manpower resources to PDEA-ARMM in upholding the advocacy of President Duterte against illegal drugs.
