PNP files illegal possession of firearms case vs Rafael Baylosis鈥� son-in-law
The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) on Friday filed before the Department of Justice a case for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act against a suspected member of the New People’s Army (NPA).
Marklen Maojo Maga, organizer of militant group Kilusang Mayo Uno and son-in-law of National Democratic Front consultant Rafael Baylosis, was brought to the DOJ to undergo inquest proceedings.
During the inquest, Maga, assisted by a lawyer from the Public Attorneys’ Office (PAO), opted not to answer the complaint, prompting the investigating prosecutor to submit the case for resolution.
Maga was arrested at a basketball court near their house in San Mateo town last Thursday morning. Authorities said Maga is the subject of an arrest warrant for murder by the Cabadbaran City Agusan Del Norte Regional Trial Court Branch 34.
Before becoming a KMU organizer, Maga used to be an active member of the League of Filipino students. He was also a founding member of the youth group Anakbayan.
