The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA)听on Wednesday听announced that it听has lifted the number coding scheme for city and provincial buses only on听March 28听(Holy听Wednesday) and听April 2听(Monday).
The advisory was issued in observance of Holy Week, which would start on听March 25听(Palm听Sunday) and end on听April 1听(Easter听Sunday).
The lifting of the number coding scheme was intended to supply additional buses听needed to transport passengers going to provinces during the week.
Number coding, also known as the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program,听aimed to reduce traffic congestion during peak hours in the metro.
