Woman police in Ilocos Norte survives suicide try

LAOAG CITY—A police officer survived an alleged suicide attempt at her home in Dumalneg town in Ilocos Norte province on Friday afternoon (April 6), according to her family.

The 25-year-old woman with the rank of Police Officer 1 was found unconscious in a chair with a drawstring around her neck at 3 p.m. in Poblacion Village. She joined the Philippine National Police in 2016.

Her mother said the police officer was off-duty and had been suffering from personal problems. Earlier on the same afternoon, the police woman appeared happy during her 4-year-old son’s preschool graduation. She was supposed to marry a fellow police officer next month.

The police woman is being treated at the intensive care unit of a hospital in Laoag City.
