4 cops hurt in Masbate blast

DIMASALANG, Masbate — Four members of the police’s Regional Special Operations Task Group stationed in Masbate province were wounded in an explosion on Saturday morning in Baleno town, police said.

The police were on their way back to provincial police office based in Camp Bonny Serrano in Masbate City after conducting a search warrant with Baleno police when an improvised explosive device exploded in Barangay (village) Cajunday around 9 a.m.

Information on the operation prior to the incident was not disclosed to media.

The wounded policemen were brought to the Masbate Provincial Hospital for treatment.

Their identities were not immediately available to the media.

Investigation into the incident was ongoing.
