One of the two unidentified men who聽 robbed a 32-year-old employee in Quezon City was shot dead by responding policemen on Monday morning.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Supt. Joselito Esquivel said the still unidentified motorcycle back rider died after exchanging gun shots with the QCPD policemen from the La Loma Police Station 1聽led by Senior Insp. Kenneth Lea帽o at around 2:12 a.m.
Based on the report submitted by Station 1 commander Supt. Robert Sales, the suspects on motorbike forcibly took the blue pouch bag of Micah Hernandez, 32, while she was waiting for a ride along Banawe street corner N.S. Amoranto in Barangay St. Peter at around 1:50 am.
The bag contained Hernandez鈥檚 Samsung Galaxy prime phone and P2,000 in cash.
Esquivel said Hernandez immediately reported the incident to Station 1, prompting the police to launch a hot pursuit operation and inform the Oplan Sita policemen along Banawe area.
The robbers were intercepted by Lea帽o鈥檚 team who flagged them down. However, the two fired at the cops, prompting them to retaliate. The back rider was hit and died on the spot. The driver fled with some of the loot.
Hernandez positively identified the slain robber as the person who took her bag.
Esquivel said the suspect was estimated to be between聽25 to 30 years old, of medium build with fair complexion. He was wearing a black jacket. Recovered from him were Hernandez鈥檚 cellphone, a loaded caliber .38 revolver, and a sachet of suspected shabu (metamphetamine hydrochloride). The police also gathered four spent shells as evidence.
