MANILA, Philippines — Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso announced on Thursday, January 13, that the ongoing booster shot drive-thru vaccination at the Quirino Grandstand has been extended to 24 hours.<\/p>\n
Domagoso made the announcement following the high demand of 4-wheel vehicle owners at the said vaccination site.<\/p>\n
“Due to the increase of demand ng ating booster vaccination caravan drive-thru in luneta, nakita po natin na talagang dumagsa ibig sabihin gustong gusto ng tao na mabakunahan, pinapalapit natin sa tao ang bakunahan,” Domagoso said.<\/p>\n
(We’ve seen that a lot of people are trooping to the place to have themselves vaccinated, we are making the vaccination closer to people.)<\/p>\n
“Para maagap kayong madagdagan ng proteksyon, we decided tomorrow, mamaya po yun madaling araw, simula 12 a.m., ang booster vaccination drive-thru caravan sa City of Manila will be made available 24hrs,” he added.<\/p>\n
(So that many of you will have extra protection, we have decided to make this drive-thru booster shot vaccination in the city of Manila 24 hours.)<\/p>\n
Following the extension, Domagoso said the there will be no limit on the number of capacity of vehicles that the city governnment will cater in Luneta.<\/p>\n
According to the mayor, the booster shot drive-thru vaccination is still open to the general public, even to those non-Manilenos.<\/p>\n
“Itutuloy natin, papalawakin natin, pahahabain natin, gagawin nating unli hangga’t may bakuna,” Domagoso said.<\/p>\n
“Ang goal namin sa Manila, mabuhay ang tao. Iyong impeksyon kumalat na eh, so instead of spending more money in fighting the infection, na huwag kumalat, I would rather utilize most of our resources, gagamitin ko yung kakayanan ng pamahalaan para mabuhay yung taong infected,” Domagoso said.<\/p>\n
(The goal here in Manila is to make people survive [this pandemic]. The infection has worsened so instead of spending more money in fighting the infection, I would rather utilize most of our resources, the capability of our local government to help the infected people survive.)<\/p>\n
Domagoso further assured the public that the city government will continue to strengthen its efforts in mitigating the effect of COVID-19.<\/p>\n
“Darating rin at sisikat rin ang araw sa buhay ng tao. Habang nangangapa pa ang tao sa dilim, andito ang pamahalaan nakaalalay,” he said.<\/p>\n
(There will come a time that the sun will shine for our people. So while we are still grappling our way out of the dark, we in the government will extend assistance.)<\/p>\n
