A criminal complaint was filed against two editors and several other persons\u00a0 for publishing lewd photos and columns in a Manila-based tabloid.<\/p>\n
In its complaint filed on April 19, the Cebu City Anti-Indecency Board (CCAIB) said the tabloid\u00a0 Bomba Balita Saski sa Katotohanan violated Cebu City Ordinance 1408 or the Anti-Indecency Ordinance.<\/p>\n
The tabloid was\u00a0 also accused of violating the Revised Penal Code of the Philippines, which prohibits \u201cobscene publications, exhibitions and indecent shows.\u201d<\/p>\n
Named respondents were president\/editor in chief Florescita Arellano, entertainment editor Art Tapalla, a certain Joncon, Joaquin Valderama, Jimmy Boy Savellano, Rosemarie Rivera, Maureen Carlos, Krystille Asuncion and other unidentified persons.<\/p>\n
The respondents\u00a0 will be required to file counter-affdavits with\u00a0 the Cebu City Prosecutors’ Office.<\/p>\n
In its complaint, the board said\u00a0 they received information\u00a0 about Bomba\u2019s content being \u201cobscene, indecent and contained language or words that are totally vulgar.\u201d<\/p>\n
After verfication, the board said it found the columns and pictures of naked men and women in Bomba\u00a0 were\u00a0\u00a0 sexually suggestive.<\/p>\n
In page 4 of one issue,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 five columns\u00a0 used words that are \u201ctotally vulgar with details of sexual intercourse.\u201d<\/p>\n
Copies of Bomba were seized by the board and policemen during a raid in downtown Cebu City last Feb. 24.<\/p>\n
They raided magazine and newspaper stands along the streets of Manalili, Legaspi, Sikatuna Pelaez and Mabini.<\/p>\n
Other confiscated tabloids include Toro, Bagong Toro, Remate and Hataw. These tabloids are published in Manila and sent to Cebu.<\/p>\n
