MANILA, Philippines \u2013 A substitute bill, which seeks to generate between P40 billion and P45 billion from alcohol and\u00a0 tobacco, was\u00a0 presented\u00a0 on\u00a0 the floor\u00a0 on Tuesday by Senator Franklin Drilon, acting chairman of the Senate\u00a0 committee on ways and means.<\/p>\n\n
The proposal was\u00a0 higher than the P30 billion revenue target approved by the\u00a0 House of Representatives\u00a0 but lower than Malaca\u00f1ang\u2019s original proposal of P60 billion.<\/p>\n\n
Before this, Drilon moved to terminate the\u00a0 period of interpellation on\u00a0 the committee report\u00a0 that was \u00a0endorsed and\u00a0 sponsored on the floor by form chairman of the committee, Senator Ralph Recto, who resigned from his post.
