Models from different Cebu universities and colleges invaded the runway clad in outfits made from recycled materials in the fashion show dubbed Green Fashion Revolution held at SM Cebu City Trade Hall last August 3.<\/p>\n
The team from Cebu Normal University won the first prize while entries from University of Cebu Banilad and University of San Carlos placed 2nd and 3rd, respectively.<\/p>\n
The CNU team received P20,000 while its adopted barangay, barangay Inayawan, will be given seed money of P40,000 to implement the students\u2019 chosen project.<\/p>\n
The Green Fashion Revolution organized by the Aboitiz group aims to promote the group\u2019s five pillars of sustainability: reduce, reuse, recycle, rejuvenate communities, and renewable energy generation.<\/p>\n
College students recycled waste paper, discarded tarpaulins, sacks, and other waste materials which they crafted into stylish costumes.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the efforts of our students, we are inspired to do this every year,\u201d said Augusto Carpio, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Aboitiz Foundation, Inc.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith this, we are teaching the community what the environment is all about and its importance. We are also aiming to involve schools into sustainability,\u201d Carpio added.<\/p>\n
Participating schools were the University of the Philippines Cebu, Cebu Normal University, Banilad Center for Professional Development, University of Cebu-Banilad, University of San Carlos, and University of the Visayas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
