The late Natividad Almeda-Lopez, known as the \u201cdean of women judges\u201d and one of the country\u2019s foremost feminists, was born in Manila on Sept. 8, 1892. She made history as the first female lawyer to publicly defend a woman in court. The first woman justice of the Court of Appeals, she was also an active leader in the women\u2019s suffrage movement. Lopez died on Jan. 23, 1977.
