MANILA, Philippines–Foreign Secretary Albert del Rosario will take a medical leave this month to undergo a procedure for his back ailment, Foreign Affairs spokesperson Assistant Secretary Charles Jose said on Monday.<\/p>\n\n
Jose said Del Rosario will still be in President Aquino\u2019s delegation to Canada and the United States which leaves this week.<\/p>\n\n
He said Del Rosario, 75, will be going abroad \u201csometime this month\u201d for the medical procedure which \u201chas long been overdue.\u201d<\/p>\n\n
\u201cHe expects to be back at work in a few weeks\u2019 time,\u201d Jose said.<\/p>\n\n
An acting secretary will be designated at the Department of Foreign Affairs while Del Rosario is on leave, he added.–Christine O.
