Wesleyan University-Philippines (WU-P), one of the largest and oldest universities in Central Luzon, has opened a law school in its main campus in Cabanatuan City with former human rights lawyer and party-list congressman JV Bautista as its first dean.<\/p>\n\n
Pacifico B. Aniag, president of WU-P, said the Legal Education Board (LEB) has issued a permit allowing WU-P to operate a law school. Aniag, former national head of the Free Masons and Rotary Club International, spearheaded the law school project which was approved by the WU-P board of trustees.<\/p>\n\n
Led by Dean JV Bautista, the pioneer faculty includes Judge Johnmuel Mendoza, Judge Mildred Villaroman-Hernal, Judge Trese Wenceslao, City Prosecutor Rene Villaroman, Dr. Emelita Portillo, Dr. Amelita Chaohan and lawyer Dante Alejandria.<\/p>\n\n
The new law school boasts of the best stocked law library in Nueva Ecija, with a complete updated set of Supreme Court Reports Annotated (SCRA) and its electronic or e-SCRA version, as well as textbooks and commentaries of leading authorities in law. The law library has more than 800 volumes of brand-new law books and an operational internet wi-fi for law researchers.<\/p>\n\n
WU-P is a Methodist-founded university organized in 1946 and operates two campuses in Cabanatuan City and one in Baler, Aurora. It enjoys autonomous status from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
