The assessment of the leadership of the late dictator President Ferdinand Marcos must be left to the historians, according to his son and namesake.

“Ipaubaya natin ang kasaysayan sa mga propesor, sa mga nag-aaral tungkol sa kasaysayan ng Pilipinas,” Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. told reporters in Balungao, Pangasinan, on Friday.

“Kami hindi namin trabaho yun. Ang trabaho namin ay tingnan kung ano ba ang pangangailangan ng taong bayan ngayon.”

On Thursday during the celebrations for the 30th anniversary of the Edsa people power revolution, President Benigno Aquino III called on the people to reject the vice presidential bid of the younger Marcos.

The President rejected the idea that the Marcos era was a “golden age” in the history of the Philippines and slammed the dictator’s son for refusing to apologize for his father.

At the briefing in Pangasinan, the younger Marcos said he did want to witness another martial law.

“Oh, God no. Because if there’s martial law, ibig sabihin we’re in crisis. E ayaw naman nating mapasok ang Pilipinas sa crisis,” he said.

“Kailangan sagutin natin ang taong bayan pagka sinasabi tulungan ninyo kami dito sa mga bagay-bagay na ito, dito sa problemang hinaharap namin—and that is still what we should be doing,” the senator said.

The younger Marcos is a strong contender for the vice presidency, tying with Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero at the top spot. If he wins, he will be one step away from the top post at Malacañang. RC

The assessment of the leadership of the late dictator President Ferdinand Marcos must be left to the historians, according to his son and namesake.

[34,45
1299
4801
206075

168708
["post-769016","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-latest-stories","category-nation-latest-stories","tag-ferdinand-marcos","byline-frances-mangosing","source-inquirer-net","editor-rissa-m-camongol
