JUNE was declared National Dengue Awareness Month under Proclamation No. 1204 signed on April 21, 1998, by then President Fidel Ramos. According to data from the DOH, a total of 35,658 suspected dengue cases were reported nationwide from Jan. 1 to April 9 this year. This is 37 percent higher than the 26,021 cases reported during same period last year.
