
The security in some strategic palaces within the State has been beefed up to prevent any breakdown of law and order ahead of Friday’s Supreme Court’s judgement on the 2018 Osun governorship election.This was confirmed on Thursday by the Osun State Police Command.
The Force spokesperson in Osun, DSP Folashade Odoro, said in Osogbo that the police was fully prepared for the outcome, Osun reporters gathered.
“Officers have been placed on red alert and are pro-active to prevent any kind of violence or demonstration in the state during and after the supreme court judgement.
“However, we want to urge people of the state to go about their lawful businesses while maintaining law and order without fear or intimidation,” Odoro concluded.
Recall, that the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2018 guber election in the State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, had challenged the victory of Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate at the Osun 2018 Governorship Election Tribunal.
The tribunal on March 22 declared Adeleke as the winner of the election, but the judgment was later overturned by the Appeal Court on the 9th of May, 2019. While Supreme Court for final judgement and the court is set to rule on the matter on Friday 5th July, 2019.
