
Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has extended his penchant for public-private partnership to his campaign strategy as he named prominent broadcasters, administrators and proprietors of top private radio stations in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, as part of his re-election campaign media team.
In a statement released on Thursday evening by the secretary of the campaign media team, Omolere Omoetan, said the broadcasters attached with three of the leading radio stations in the city have been confirmed as part of the team.
Top media executives among those who made the list and expected to serve as professional guides in media communication to the governor’s campaign team are: the Group General Manager of Fresh FM, Alhaji Abolade Salami; the proprietor of Agidigbo FM, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat; the General Manager of Splash and Lagelu FM, Tunde Olawuwo; as well as a top Independent broadcaster with Fresh FM and board member of the Local Government Service Commission, Alhaji Olalomi Amole.
The media team which would be led by the executive director of Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State, Prince Dotun Oyelade include Commissioner for Information, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, former Commissioner for Information, Hon,Taiwo Otegbeye as Vice Chairman, Taiwo Adisa and Alhaji Akeem Azeez, the Chief Press Secretary and Personal Assistant to Governor Makinde respectively, among others.
Others who are expected to join the team are Media Aides to Gov. Seyi Makinde, Bosede Sodiq, Moses Alao, Tunde Momoh and Dare Aleshiloye while Segun Kehinde the Publisher of Goal Poacher news, including Akeem Olatunji and Michael Ogunsina who are Publicity Secretary and Youth leader PDP Oyo State respectively would also be part of the committee in their own capacity.
The governor who spoke at the meeting expressed satisfaction with the level of professionalism and work ethic deployed by the campaign media team led by Prince Dotun Oyelade which led to his victory at the polls in 2019.
Gov. Makinde, while stating that he has confidence in his media team under Prince Dotun Oyelade explained that the performance and impression created towards the 2019 election informed his decision to re-appoint him and his team.
He also expressed confident that the committee would repeat the outstanding performance of 2019.
In his response, Prince Dotun Oyelade described serving in the governor’s campaign media team for the second time as an honour, appreciating him for the opportunity.
Prince Oyelade assured the governor of professionalism in the discharge of their duties to ensure his re-election bid crystallized to reality.
He added that the committee would strive to give its best to victory for the governor without resorting to propaganda and mudslinging.
He added that the experience garnered in 2019 would stand the team in good stead
Oyelade also stressed that the inclusion of professionals as new members to the team is a plus that would enrich the outputs of the team.
According to the Chairman of the campaign media team, Makinde is a “marketable product” owing to his performance as governor for three and half years which he said will make the work less difficult compared to 2019.
He, therefore called on the people of Oyo State to ensure Governor Makinde is re-elected in 2023 as one good term deserves another.
