A low pressure area (LPA) and a tropical storm outside the Philippine area of responsibility will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon, which would bring more rains in most parts of the country, the state weather bureau said Thursday.

The LPA was last spotted 1.965 kilometers east of Visayas and will cause overcast skies and scattered rains over Eastern and Central Visayas, Caraga, Davao region and Northern Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

It will enhance the southwest monsoon over Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Provinces, Batanes and Babuyan Group of Islands.

Meanwhile, Pagasa said Metro Manila and the rest of the country might just see an improved weather condition for Thursday but would still likely experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains.             /kga
