2 robbery suspects slain in shootout with Olongapo cops

OLONGAPO CITY – Two suspected robbers were killed in a shootout with policemen here on Friday morning (Aug. 17).

Senior Inspector Jerry Abaigar, commander of police station 5, said the motorcycle-riding suspects robbed a man and stole the victim’s motorcycle at 4:20 a.m. in Barangay (village) Sta. Rita.

The victim immediately reported the incident to the policemen who gave chase, leading to a gunfight near a cemetery in Sta. Rita.

Investigators have yet to identify the suspects who died in the encounter.

Another suspect escaped aboard a motorcycle, Abaigar said.

Police also recovered shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and several bullets from the suspects. ALLAN MACATUNO
