Pagasa forecasts surge of amihan next week, cold weather seen

MANILA, Philippines — A “surge” of northeast monsoon or amihan is seen next week, bringing cold weather in most parts of Northern Luzon, a state weather bureau weather specialist said on Friday.
“By next week, possibly by Monday, we might have a surge of northeast monsoon affecting most parts of northern Luzon,” said Grace Castañeda, weather specialist of Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
But for Friday, easterlies or the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean prevails, bringing warm weather in most parts of the country.
Nevertheless, easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in Eastern Visayas.
“We can see in our satellite animation that there are almost no cloud clusters in most parts of the country except in areas of eastern Visayas,” Castañeda said in a Friday morning forecast.
“The rest of the country will continue to experience warm weather,” she added.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms also due to easterlies.
Meanwhile, Pagasa did not raise gale warning in any seaboards nationwide.
