40 members of PNP unit dismissed
MANILA, Philippines — More than 40 officers and men of the Philippine National Police-Civil Security Group (PNP-CSG) had been removed from their posts for alleged corruption.
Maj. Gen. Roberto Fajardo, CSG head, on Friday, Nov. 8, said the order to dismiss the 40 officers and non-uniformed employees of the PNP unit took effect on Thursday, Nov. 7.
At least 27 senior officers of two more PNP units—Firearms and Explosives Office and Supervisory Office for Security and Investigation Agencies—had also been dismissed earlier for alleged corruption but Fajardo said corruption continued.

Fajardo said the removal of officers and men was “consistent” with his commitment to “deter if not eradicate malpractice” in offices under him and to heed the internal cleansing program of the PNP.
In the CSG, he said corruption had been ingrained that some employees would translate the acronym PNP as “pulis na pixer (fixer policeman)” and NUP as “non-uniformed pixer (non-uniformed fixer)”.

Article continues after this advertisementThe dismissal of the CSG officers and men was also to heed President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive for all government employees to speed up transactions in their offices, Fajardo said.
He said he wanted to turn the front line services of CSG to be “clientele-friendly.”/TSB
