LTO suspends license of SUV driver in dragging incident

/ 04:02 AM November 20, 2019

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended for three months the license of a driver who drove off in his sport utility vehicle, dragging a Manila traffic enforcer who had flagged him for a violation. Orlando Ricardo Dizon was also summoned by the LTO for an investigation of the road rage incident on Nov. 16 on Gelinos Street in Santa Cruz, Manila. He is accused of being the driver of the SUV that had dragged traffic enforcer Adrian Lim through the streets, an incident caught on closed-circuit TV cameras. Clarence Guinto, LTO-law enforcement service acting director, issued the show cause order against Dizon and his employer, Digital Network Communications and Computers Inc., requiring them to explain why they should not be held liable for reckless driving/improper person to operate a motor vehicle. The vehicle involved was also tagged for alarm for three months. The lifting of both the suspension and alarm would be subject to the LTO’s approval.—KRIXIA SUBINGSUBING
