3 鈥榓bducted鈥� Chinese women rescued, 6 Chinese men nabbed in Cavite
SAN PEDRO CITY –– The police arrested six Chinese nationals for the alleged abduction of three Chinese women in Bacoor City in Cavite province.
The police released the identities of the victims in a report on Saturday,
but their names were withheld in this report as there were also allegations that the victims were sexually assaulted.
Col. Villaflor Bannawagan, chief of the Anti-Kidnapping Group for Luzon, however, said in a phone interview Saturday that Zhou Mei, an employee of a Philippine offshore gaming operator (Pogo), who was abducted in Makati City on Monday, was not among the rescued victims.
It appeared that Zhou’s abduction was a different case altogether as none of those rescued in Cavite was a Pogo employee, Bannawagan said.
The police report said the victims were abducted separately between Dec. 10 and Dec. 12.
The third victim was reportedly abducted around 10 p.m. on Dec. 12 inside a casino resort in Pasay City.
Around 5:30 p.m. Friday, a team from the police Anti-Kidnapping Group and the Cavite police swooped down on a two-story house at Meadowood Executive Village in Bacoor City, where they arrested six male suspects, also Chinese.
Police said the suspects demanded ransom from the victims’ families that ranged from P700,000 to P1.4 million.
The families have partially paid the amounts, but when the suspects refused to release the victims, they sought help from Philippine authorities./lzb
